Alongside the experimental approaches, LISA develops and/or uses digital codes based on theoretical models of physical and chemical processes that occur in the Earth's and planetary atmospheres.

 

These codes allow for example extracting geophysical information from satellite observations, analyze and predict molecular properties, produce fields of concentration or emission of species of atmospheric interest, quantify specific chemical phenomena, to predict environmental responses for different climatic or emissions scenarios …

 

For this, LISA appealed to means of calculation and to storage capacity it has in-house or which it can reach via the national centers of intensive calculation.
