From Créteil to Tsukuba, from Tsukuba to Créteil: LISA welcomes Satoshi Inomata as part of a collaborative project between LISA and NIES

From June 2 to 27, 2025, Satoshi Inomata, researcher at the National Institute for Environmental Studies (NIES, Tsukuba, Japan), visited LISA as a guest of Université Paris Cité. Satoshi Inomata is an expert in mass spectrometry techniques and the study of organic aerosols.

The collaboration between NIES and LISA began in 2022-2023 with three scientific visits to NIES by Claudia Di Biagio, a researcher at LISA and recipient of a research grant from the Canon Fundation in Europe. The collaborative research project between LISA and NIES is entitled “Climate Change and role of secondary organic aerosols” and combines LISA's skills in studying the spectral optical properties of aerosols using a field and laboratory simulation approach, with NIES' expertise in studying the molecular-scale composition of aerosols.

During his time at LISA, Satoshi Inomata worked on analyzing the composition of brown carbon from various combustion sources of global interest. He also gave a seminar entitled “Investigation on the influence of acidity of pre-existing particles on the secondary organic aerosol formation”. His stay was an opportunity to discuss current collaborative projects and future prospects!
